Computer Games That Shaped My Youth Pt 2
64This is the follow up hub to my first hub Computer games that shaped my youth unfortunately i couldn't put them all into one hub as it would of made it very long due to my advanced years and the fact that i have played computer games for most of them.Again like the first hub i have not put these in any order just in the order in which i fondly remembered them in,please have a look, laugh and remember the games that you used to play when you were younger. Some of these are special just to me and some are absolute world classics,if you read my first hub on these then you know what to expect which is a description of the games and why they made e the gamer i am today plus a video and maybe even a link to where you can get your hands on them.
World Championship Boxing Manager (Zx Spectrum) 1990
World Championship Boxing Manager was a brilliant game released in 1990,i have always been one for strategic statistical games and this was probably the first one of its kind that i have played. There was no actual boxing involved just your participation as a manager spurring your team of fighters on and training them then giving them strategies to take into the ring with the goal of getting one of the fighters to the height of world championship.Great game for real purists.
Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic (Xbox) 2003
this superb game is possibly one of my favourite of all time as it combines my two favourite things role playing games and star wars, released in 2003 on the xbox, the game starts out with you choosing your player and deciding if they are male or female and then you find yourself at a Jedi academy where you will learn all the basic skills you need to face your adversaries throughout the game.Featuring round based combat and the ability to play the game as either sided with the dark side or the light side of the force, featuring a brilliant storyline and the ability to upgrade your lightsaber and indeed change the colour of it as well as having other weapons and armour this game has it all.
Timesplitters (Playstation 2) 2000
This game takes place in nine different fictional locations spanning 100 years as you do battle with the time-splitters,nasty creatures that can time travel as well as you,the big hit with the game was the arcade mode which could have up to 4 human players and 10 bots playing on any map as well as eing able to build your own map and then compete on it this was about as close to playing online as it was able to get at the time,This was the first, first person shooter game that i really got involved in,i remember building maps then challenging my mates to hunt me down and kill me which usually didn't happen
Stunt Car Racer (Amiga) 1989
This was probably one of the first racing games that i played and it was a good one,you basically raced a stunt car and raced a load of different tracks involving jumps and tracks that resemble roller-coaster tracks,i don't know quite why this game captured my imagination, probably because it was so different.Take a look at the video and see what you think.
Gran Turismo 2 (Playstation) 1999
In 1997 my love affair with racing games was brought to the forefront of my life.Ive always been into cars and this shows by the fact that it is now my full time job to fix them but there had been little to inspire me up to this point, this all changed when Gran Turismo came out.Boasting 178 cars from real manufacturers and 11 tracks this was the most realistic racer to date and showed how far video games had come. However the follow up to this was Gran Turismo 2 and this was what captured my heart and led to a full 6month love affair with this game,Boasting 650 cars and 27 race tracks as well as a multitude of tuning options this one kept me and my friend amused for hours,i remember phoning each other up and boasting about 0-60 times and quarter mile races.P.s i always won!!

Championship Manager Series 1992-
In 2003 the first game i got for my brand new xbox was championship manager,i believe it was number 4 or 5 but i was hooked,i am a moderate football/soccer fan and loved the way this game had so many real life players from around the world and also had so many statistics it could keep me amused for days at a time,i do specifically remember once when i didn't have work for a week i spent around 16 hours a day for about 3 days straight playing this solidly until i was dragged out by a mate, probably a good thing,Football management at its best.
International Karate Plus (Zx Spectrum) 1987
My first proper beat em up and i loved it,i could play this game for hours at a time despite there not being a huge amount of different attacks. The basic premise of the game was you and two other people fighting on a beach setting with the first person to get 6 points the winner and progressing onto the next round, after a few rounds there is a bonus round which included using a shield to deflect bouncing balls. The reason i loved this game apart form its cool animations was your ability to level up and gain different coloured belts.

These all sound like fun games, especially the Star Wars one. Great hub as always!
I had no game system around that time and no good time to get one :) It's only been the last couple years that I've started getting a decent hand on things. I'll to check it out. I missed a lot of good games at times. :D
Gorilla for DOS, Nibbless----other QBASIC based goodies.
And of course, Mario Bros.
Thanks for the Hub!

Some more bona-fide classics in here!
I prefered Exploding Fist to IK or IK+ though, but still a good game.
Stunt Car Racer was a superb game that still plays very nicely these days.
Awesome hub mate.
